Representing the private sector, P. team participated in the water sector event of decentralized solutions for sustainable sanitation in Jordan. Several parties grouped to discuss a better services delivery in the water sector, including GIZ, National Implementation Committee for Effective Integrated Wastewater Management (NICE), Jordan University (JU), Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MWI), Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ), BORDA, cewas Middle East, Royal Scientific Society (RSS), Water Consults, Wakileh Contracting, Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SSA), and many other from private and public sectors. The thematic areas included:

1. Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Practical Implementation.
2. Institutionalizing Decentralized Sanitation Solutions in Jordan.
3. Balancing Efficiency and Affordability – Addressing O&M Costs.
4. Community Acceptance and Viable Business Models.
5. Climate Change and Sanitation Resilience.

In their capacity as water professionals and a provider to engineering service, P. team has introduced their experience in the local and regional market and highlighted the challenges and opportunities during the facilitated workshop of efficiency and affordability of operation and maintenance for utilities, by which their intervention focused on the research and development, technology-waves, empowerment of the public sector mandate, academia engagement, performance-based-schemes, contracting strategies, and O&M best practices that objectively assess the needs and identify the gaps without relying on ready-made formulas that keep problems at a loose-end. Several perspectives were elaborated and contributed to the concluding recommendations and key takeaways that will formulate the concept paper for better sanitation and water sector in Jordan.
