P. team has engaged in the continued efforts of the Arab Water Week through supporting the submission couple of papers including:
⦁ Maric Valve as an Innovative Solution to Improve Operational Efficiency of Water Systems.
⦁ Contextualization of Digital Transformation – Outlook on Jordan Water Sector.
The first paper came in the context of P. team partnership with the Canadian-based-Company BISAN Inc., by which the patented flow control valve (i.e., Maric) technology was presented as an innovative solution to improve the operational efficiency of water supply systems. The paper highlighted the potential applications and promising interventions in Jordan water sector taken into consideration the characteristics of challenges and opportunities of local utilities including managing the water losses and the complicated supply and demand patterns under intermittent water supply regimes, controlling unauthorized consumption, and eventually water conservation in agriculture sector as it consume half of the water demand in Jordan and to optimize energy efficiency and it is the highest bill of water sector. It is worth mentioning that such technology is demonstrated by PROFTEAM in a pilot project in Zaatari Refugee Camp in collaboration with UNICEF.
The second paper came in the context of P. team interest in digital utility transformation and originated from the challenges confronted by P. team in Jordan projects implementation and planning, specifically those related to SCADA integration of water facilities, metering and billing, NRW reduction strategies and water resources protection. The paper highlighted the digital transformation global barriers and drivers, water sector key challenges in Jordan including scarcity of water resources, increased the costs of water production, treatment and distribution, and relatively high-water losses, also emphasized the Economic Modernization Vision, and presented the necessary steps toward digital transformation in water sector at both utility operations and resources protection levels, and eventually concluded the issues, priorities and potentials of digital transformation of water utilities in Jordan.
